Pre School

Pre School
The Pre-School Room is where your child, aged 2-3 years will first experience a more structured school environment.

•Your child will adapt and become used to sitting on a chair at a table and to concentrating for longer periods of time.

•All children develop at different speeds and Pre-School allows us to assess how each child is faring with the different tasks set.

•By spending more individual time at this stage, we are able to introduce the Montessori technique to your child as soon as their abilities allow.

•Through the Montessori Method of Teaching and various other techniques, your child will grasp the fundamentals of reading, writing and mathematics.

•Languages, arts and crafts and social behaviour are also key areas of the curriculum.

Your child’s vocabulary will increase, putting together sentences instead of just words. Harcourt Creche staff constantly encourage language development and good behaviour. During this time it is important that we work together in toilet training your child, by following the same routines.

Pre-school starts at approximately two years. Our trained pre-school carer’s develop each child’s reading, writing and numeracy through our extensive curriculum and development programmes. Our aim is to provide the children with a sound educational grounding and to ensure they enter school happy and confident.

We keep progress files on all the children, which are shared with parents. These include all aspects of the child’s development.
